Dear Friend,

Greetings and welcome to Early Music Michigan’s 2019-2020 season. We have an exciting 23rd season coming up and are eager to share it with you. Early Music Michigan has specialized in bringing you rarely performed music dating back hundreds of years, as well as music from our own time, performed in beautiful spaces with wonderful acoustics. We continue that tradition with our performances this season:

The Passion of Joan of Arc
Classic Silent Film with Live Soundtrack Performance
2:00 PM – Saturday, October 26, 2019
Kalamazoo College – Dalton Theater, Light Fine Arts Building
Much like the movie experience of the 1920’s, this viewing of the classic 1928 silent film The Passion of Joan of Arc will be accompanied by live music. Composer George Sarah will perform his original score with area musicians, including singers from Early Music Michigan.

Rising from the Ashes: Seasonal Music from Notre Dame de Paris
7:30 PM – Tuesday, December 10, 2019
First Congregational Church
Music of the season, with a nod to the rich history of music coming out of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Music from the 1200s to the present by Perotin, Leonin, Guillaume de Machaut, Josquin, Mouton, as well as carols from our own time.

A Royal Flush: Music from the Court of Louis the XIV
7:30 PM – Saturday, March 28, 2020
First Congregational Church
Crowned King of France in 1654, his reign of 72 years is the longest of any European monarch. Fortunately, his affection for the arts left musical riches that are still recognized today. Hear sumptuous music of Michel-Richard de Laland, Jean-Baptiste Lully, and Francois Couperin, ‘The Grand’.

Your support of Early Music Michigan by attending concerts and contributing donations provides the resources required to ensure that our unique form of music will continue to be available in Kalamazoo and at a reasonable price. A tax-deductible donation can be made by writing a check and mailing it to us using the enclosed envelope. Alternatively, a PayPal donation button is located above.

Another donation option available to people with a tax deferred traditional IRA and who are older than 70 ½ is to set up the ability to send tax free donations to 501(c)3 nonprofits directly from your IRA trustee as a Qualified Charitable Distribution.

On behalf of the board of directors and singers of Early Music Michigan, thank you for your generous support and we look forward to seeing you at our concerts.
